Art Exhibits

The H. F. Johnson Gallery of Art at Carthage displays work by established and emerging artists. The gallery hosts five exhibitions every year, and opening receptions that offer residents the opportunity to meet and talk with the artists. Admission is always free.

Athletic Events

Carthage fields 28 NCAA Division III sports, including football, basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, volleyball, lacrosse, and water polo. Carthage teams regularly win championships in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Join Carthage to cheer on the Firebirds at athletic events in Tarble Arena, Art Keller Field, or Augie Schmidt Field.

Carthage welcomes many distinguished visitors to campus every year, including leaders in business, sports, entertainment, sciences, the humanities and more. Musical Performances

The Carthage Music Department offers concerts and recitals nearly every week. The department brings some of the world’s finest musicians to Kenosha County, and Carthage faculty and students regularly perform free concerts and recitals.

Nationally recognized for excellence in theatre, the Carthage Theatre Department stages 6-8 productions every year. The College’s New Play Initiative brings playwrights of prominence from around the world to Kenosha County, where they create and premiere new works.

The Carthage Arts Academy provides affordable, expert instruction in a wide variety of instruments for the community. Students and music lovers of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Artist-teachers offer private lessons in piano, organ, voice, music theatre, string instruments, brass instruments, percussion, woodwinds, and harp. Group eurhythmics classes for children ages 4-12 are offered on Saturdays.

Business & Sport Business Camps
Carthage faculty offer two business camps in the summer: Sport Business Camp: “Authorized Personnel Only” and Business Camp: “How It’s Made.” Participants get behind-the-scenes access to business and professional sports facilities, and earn up to 4 college credits.

Junior Science and Humanities Symposium
The Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) is a prestigious STEM scholarship competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense. High school students in grades 9-12 from Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are invited to present their original research in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and the humanistic aspects of science.

The Carthage College Community Literacy Center’s mission is to work with families of the Kenosha community to advance education through literacy programs and activities. We plan to offer a variety of literacy-related programming opportunities to elementary and middle school students, and to young families.

Carthage offers in-demand master’s degrees — some of which can often be completed in just 10 months. Earn a master’s degree in athletic training, education, business design and innovation, sports management, or music theatre vocal pedagogy.

Kenosha Oaks Scholarships for Undergraduate Students: Carthage awards eight four-year full-tuition scholarships to Kenosha residents every year, as a way of honoring the relationship we share with the City of Kenosha. 

Full Tuition Scholarships for Adult Kenosha Residents: Carthage offers two four-year Adult Undergraduate Studies scholarships to qualifying residents of the City of Kenosha seeking their first bachelor’s degree. Each tuition-only scholarship is worth more than $110,000.
